Euphrasian Basilica

Eufrazijeva bazilika (Eufrazijana) u Poreču jedan je od najljepših sačuvanih spomenika rane bizantske umjetnosti na Sredozemlju. Izgrađena je u 6. stoljeću na mjestu ranokršćanske crkve, u vrijeme biskupa Eufrazija i cara Justinijana I., a nalazi se u biskupskom kompleksu. Godine 1997. UNESCO ju je proglasio Svjetskom kulturnom baštinom.

The glittering mosaics, which painted the interior and the facade of the church, are among the most beautiful preserved works of Byzantine art. The mosques were above the apse represented by apostles with Jesus, in the central part of the then bishop Euphrasius with a model of the basilica, guardian angels, Virgin Mary with Jesus in her lap, local saints martyrs, especially Saint Mauro - the first bishop, then the martyr and protector of the city of Porec and the entire Istrian diocese.
